Plenary talk: Mathematics for Big Data

In this talk we will give a brief introduction to the concept of Big Data. After explaining the characteristics that describe a Big Data problem we will concentrate in the mathematical aspects that are involved in the solution of this kind of problems. Several facets of the Big Data scenario that suppose a challenge from the mathematical point of view will be shown and some approaches in the direction of their solution will be also presented.
